Performance of channel coding techniques for the digital mobile radio system TETRA (Trans European Trunked Radio)

Performance of channel coding techniques for the digital mobile radio system TETRA (Trans European Trunked Radio) This paper deals with channel coding techniques for the digital mobile radio system TETRA. First of all, it describes what TETRA is and the codes that are standardised in order to control the errors. Thecodes standardised for TETRA can be divided in three types: shortened Reed Muller code, cycliccodes and rate compatible punctured convolutional codes (RCPC). The standard defines the codesand their parameters but the ways to implement the coders and decoders are free for designers. The article also explains the simulations that have been carried out and the environments considered. Finally, the results of the simulations are shown and analysed
