Phd Research is treated very seriously at leading universities. Most universities require first or upper second-class honors in a relevant British undergraduate degree; some universities will accept lower seconds. If you are already have a master’s degree it is usually acceptable, whatever the class of your undergraduate degree. There are two reasons why someone may want to start a Phd Research. On the one hand, there may be a passion for research, for developing understanding and knowledge. On the other hand, there may be a particular topic, theory or issue that really appears to motivate your curiosity. For part-time students the time limits are set roughly pro rata, four to five years minimum, seven to eight years maximum. Don’t forget that if you are employed by your institution as, say, a research assistant, you may find that you can be counted as a full-time student even if you are working only part-time on your Phd Research.
The Phd Research aims to enhance your professional capabilities through critical analysis, give you the opportunity to access an international learning community through research groups and our new virtual learning environment. Our Phd Research groups cover a variety of areas and we welcome doctoral supervision in the following: Leadership Learning and Change, Innovative Pedagogies and Reform, Professional Learning and Teacher Identity, Applied Linguistics and Language Testing.
